Shaka has been practicing Ashtanga yoga since 2008 and alongside this, she regularly practices Iyengar yoga – both schools of yoga influence and inform her teaching style. She is certified to teach Hatha Yoga and in 2017 she graduated from SOAS completing the MA Traditions of Yoga and Meditation (with distinction) and includes yoga philosophy and history in her teaching.
Shaka’s teaching style aims to impart knowledge and build strength, openness and balance within the body as well as the mind. In addition to teaching yoga, Shaka also offers intuitive tarot readings and energetic healing. Through all of her offerings, her overall focus is to allow clients and students to be present, feel held and provide a space for them to explore their inner world more deeply. As well as attuning the physical and energetic body Shaka aims to guide, strengthen and encourage them on their own journey of self-discovery.
This class will bring together the fundamentals of yoga through posture, breath, meditation and awareness. The class will focus on the layers of awareness in the body, using posture as a basis – exploring yoga asana through different energetic and elemental holds such as fire, earth, water and ether. This will offer student more awareness and calm on a personal level and also more flexibility and strength on a physical level. The class will be challenging but accessible, with options given. Open level class.
