More about Shiatsu

Shiatsu originated in Japan from traditional Chinese medicine. Shiatsu means ‘finger pressure’ in Japanese, a practitioner uses many forms of touch, comfortable pressure and manipulative techniques to adjust the body’s physical structure and balance the energy flow.

It is a deeply relaxing experience and regular treatments can alleviate stress and illness and maintain health and well-being.

The practitioner works on the whole body to help energy flow freely through the system, to stimulate the body’s own innate ability to rebalance and heal itself.

During the treatment this is usually experienced as a sense of deep relaxation. The treatment usually lasts one hour and is given with the person fully clothed. Treatment aims will be agreed, so that each session is unique and tailored to individual needs.
