About Thai Yoga Massage
Traditional Thai Massage has its roots in the Indian systems of Yoga and Ayurveda. Around 2000 years ago Thai Massage was brought from India to Thailand along with Buddhism.
Thai Yoga Massage is a holistic therapy whose primary aim is to restore and balance the body’s energy system.
Thai Yoga Massage can help improve posture, breathing, flexibility, digestion and circulation. Treatments help stretch muscles, tone inner organs and reduce emotional and nervous tension and can also be of great therapeutic benefit for a range of specific conditions, such as headaches, back pain, digestive disorders, shoulder and neck tension, joint pain, menstruation problems and insomnia.
Treatments are carried out on a futon mattress on the floor with the client fully clothed. Each treatment is modified specifically to meet the client’s needs and abilities. The therapist will use hands, elbows or feet to apply pressure to energy points, and may use stretches and applied yoga to affect body alignment.
About Pregnancy Massage
In addition to regular treatments, Lucia also offers Pregnancy Thai Yoga Massage, which is practiced in the side lying position and can be safely received from the second trimester onwards.
Thai Yoga Massage is particularly suited for pregnancy as it helps release tired muscles and stressed joints put under pressure by the increase in body weight. It also improves blood circulation, thus reducing swelling and cramps and increasing oxygen and nutrients flow to the baby. Finally it helps prevent insomnia and it relaxes both the mother and the baby.
